Sunday with a Sassy Shopaholic: plus Review- Cien Skin Foodies Cleansing Face Scrub with Coconut

This week, quite by chance, I noticed that the Skin Foodies Face Scrub with Coconut was still sold at my local Lidl supermarket. This is a product I first bought last year and the first tube of which I am still using. I bought three tubes this time as I love it so much.

The scrub comes in a pink tube with coconuts all over it (I love the packaging!) and the name of the product is clearly labelled in black and white. There’s a description of the product and ingredients on the back of the tube. This is too small for me to read because of my visual impairments but the black and pink colour scheme continues there.

The product claims to contain a minimum of 95% ingredients of natural origin and I was intrigued by this. I don’t know if it does or not because of the difficulty reading the ingredients I mentioned before.

I bought it because it was a new product last year and also because I love coconut products. I have used many products claiming to really contain coconut and be natural and I was curious as to if this would really live up to those claims.

The first thing that surprised me was the appearance and texture of the scrub. Instead of being all granules, it’s a clear gel containing brown granules. I hoped this would mean the scrub was gentler than others because of the gel texture. I was right and it’s really a gel that foams quickly when you add water. It is described as a cleansing scrub. I hoped that meant that it would not irritate my skin like so many scrubs that claim to be gentle but are too abrasive for my skin. It contains coconut shell powders that remove excess oil and dead skin cells for youthful skin.

It didn’t irritate my skin at all or cause it to go red after the product was removed. My skin felt refreshed and clean but not uncomfortable as some harsher scrubs can make it feel. It is suitable for normal, combination and oily skin. It woks well on my combination skin.

If you are searching for a vegan friendly product, this, and the entire Skin Foodies collection, is vegan friendly.

The coconut scent is not overpowering and very pleasant, much like some coconut shower gels I have in the past as well as one I am using now.

You get 150ml of product and it’s gentle enough to be used every day although I tend to include a facial scrub in my skincare routine once a week. The scrub costs 2.99€ .

I’m glad to have found it again as I assumed the first time I bought it that it was a one-time offer and I had not found the product featured in offers so far this year.

I have enough tubes now to last me quite a while and a little goes a long way with this product because it creates a gentle yet effective foam.

I don’t use it exclusively as a cleanser, because I believe that although it is a “cleansing face scrub,” a scrub on its own will never clean as effectively as one used in conjunction with cleanser and toner. I like to know that I have a complete skincare routine and that a scrub is a complimentary product to that but it’s an important one as dead skin cells must be removed.

Always use your favourite moisturiser after using a scrub.

My final thoughts are if you love coconut and want a gentle yet effective scrub, choose this.

Verdict: 5 stars.
