July, as always, is Camp NaNoWriMo month. I wasn’t convinced about which project to work on and I couldn’t think of anything new so I edited some short stories I have.

I emailed some magazines as I am still wanting to publish my work. I am trying with short stories first as well as still looking for a publisher for my novels.

I want my writing projects to reach the disability organisations who helped me in my life as well as anyone else who may be interested.

I feel happy that I have started contacting magazines and that some of the disability organisations got back to me.

I didn’t get into the AutoCrit Writing Challenge Anthology, but it was fun working on my story for it this year. I will keep trying to get into the anthology.

I watched the video for the AutoCrit Destination Unknown Challenge, which I did last year. I am glad it’s back again. I saw all the videos that followed and took part in the challenge. I chose 1000 words as my goal to keep it short as I didn’t want to do anything longer. I finished my story in the first week and edited in the second. The story doesn’t require submitting anywhere through this contest.

I am 142 books into my Goodreads Challenge and since I originally thought I’d get through 50, I am pleased to have discovered so many good books.

I have decided to do the Dewey’s Reverse Readathon again. There are eight optional pre-Readathon prompts and the event itself is on August 6th and 7th, starting at 8PM EST on August 6 and ending at 8AM on the 7th, instead of going from AM to PM like the Readathon usually does.

I have now had the two doses of the Coronavirus vaccine, as has my husband. More about that in another post.

Overall, it has been a pretty productive month, especially when I wasn’t sure how productive I’d end up being.

Used Product and Life Update: April

My used products this month are:

Cien Argan Oil Shower Gel

Elvive Strengthening Shampoo

Kiko Skin Evolution Concealer in shade 01.

This month was really busy writing project wise. I did Camp NaNoWriMo again. This time, my project was a paranormal romance. I finished my first draft in 8 days, something I would not have been able to do without my dictation software. I am pretty glad I chose a short story and tried a new genre. I really enjoyed myself as I always do during the event.

I am now in the editing stage.

I did two writing summits, Gabriela Perreira’s Poetry Summit (DIY MFA) from April 8 to April 14  and also Emma Dhesi’s Be a Bestseller summit on more general aspects of writing craft  from April 12 to April 25.

Both taught me so much. I have already reviewed the poetry summit on my blog and have yet to review Emma Dhesi summit.

I confess to having had burnout this month but I am proud of having ventured into a new genre for Camp NaNoWriMo and learnt so much during the summits.

Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon was a relaxing event for me and I finished the 2 books I wanted to listen to: College Weekend (Sweet Valley High #118) by Francine Pascal and I’ll Be There for You: The One About Friends by Kelsey Miller. I tracked my progress on my blog.

Book highlights this month were:

Patience by Victoria Scott

Chasing the Sun by Judy Leigh

Willow Weeps by Louise Worthington

Spring on Rendezvous Lane by Angela Britnell

Revolution Beauty Matte Fix Oil Control Fixing Spray.

I really enjoyed Valentine’s Day and always feel so loved anyway by my husband.

One of my favourite books this month was The Scarlet Dress by Louise Douglas and before that I enjoyed Zoë Folbigg’s latest, The Night we Met.

Other great books were The Juggle by Emma Murray, Take a Chance on Me by Beth Moran and The Vineyard at Painted Moon by Susan Mallery.

A highlight of the month was being sent the Urban Decay Party Favor palette. I am excited that this is in my makeup collection.

I started a new Perfume Dupes blog series and am considering a Palette Dupes as well as other product dupes one.

I did two online courses by DIY MFA, the weekend writing sprint (which I recently reviewed on my blog) and How to DIY Your MFA (A Blueprint). It was great to revisit the two courses and if you haven’t done them, you can find out more on

I am a few days into the Life Story Summit hosted by Stacy Brookman with so many interesting guest speakers. It started on 26 February and runs until 4th March. There is a LOT of material but I am up for a new challenge.

Used Products and Life Update: September

My used products are:

Primark Madrid perfume

Double Lollies strawberry flavour lip balm

Wet ‘n’ Wild Photofocus Eyeshadow Primer

Byphasse Rosewater Toner

This month has been full of book reviews but without a doubt the highlight book-related posts of the month were all the ones I did that were related to the novel Eudora Honeysett is Quite Well Thank You by Annie Lyons.

I loved reviewing it as part of the Readalong hosted by One More Chapter. All the Twitter, Facebook and Instagram activities were fun and I loved getting an insight into the inspiration behind the novel. It was a joy to have my tweets featured and retweeted and see how much all my readers here loved those posts too.

In true book addict fashion, I signed up as a volunteer AND reader for the upcoming Dewey’s  24 Hour Readathon as I do every October and April. If you have never done it, take part. It’s a weekend (24 and 25 October) and is very relaxing if you love books.

I did a great 7 day course by Chandler Bolt on book sales which. with 3 days of bonus classes, turned into 10 days but it was very interesting.

I redid Gabriela Pereira’s course how to write a novel without breaking your heart or losing your mind.

Aside from that I continue to do various courses and InfoStack ones and am currently doing one on writing tips from Harry Potter books.

Some frustrating things with parts of my wheelchair still needing to be fixed. With social distancing, we are not coming into contact with people but I hope that those things can be fixed sometime soon. At least my chair still works and that is good.

With world events as they are, all that side of things continues to be confusing sad and scary. The saddest thing that happened was by far the passing of my aunty Jane who I will never forget.

With November around the corner, I am considering another writing project which may be part of a memoir. Or maybe something different. Planning needs to be done for that when I am ready.

Used Products and Life Update: July

My only finished products are:
Madame Glamour handcream

Cien Shiny Pearl lip balm
This month I wanted to do Camp NaNoWriMo but I didn’t have a project idea so I started planning and came up with 3 ideas.

In the Neighborhood of True by Susan Caplan Carlton

The Village Shop for Lonely Hearts by Alison Sherlock

The Orphan Twins by Lesley Eames

Here we are at the end of June and 6 months of the year are gone. That seems good to me since this is proving to be such a horrible year for so many people.
I got through so many beautiful books. Here are some of the ones I loved:

The Bitter and Sweet of Cherry Season by Molly Fader

That Summer in Maine by Brianna Wolfson

She’s Faking It by Kristin Rockaway

All the other books I reviewed are here on my blog.
There were a few that I really didn’t like so much:

The Never Have I Ever Club by Mary Jayne Baker

The Last Wife by Karen Hamilton
I really enjoyed AutoCrit’s Short   Story challenge and J. Thorn’s 5 Day Supercharge your Scene challenge and bonus 10- class course.

I didn’t win the first 2 challenges I mention here but half the winning is taking part.

I had 2 online events today: an Autocrit author chat and also a DIY MFA webinar on how to start and grow your site email list. I missed them in the end and look forward to getting replays.

Used Products and Life Update: May

Primark Glitter Obsessed Eye Cream palette.

Bride to Be perfume by Primark . I bought 2 bottles of this. They are  20ml each but a little goes a long way as the scent lasts well.

The bottle is so cute and uniquely designed that I’m keeping it. The perfume (the 2 bottles) have lasted since my wedding day and so it’ll make a good keepsake.

Used Products and Life Update: March

White Orchid Serum by Cien Lidl) MY REVIEW

Revolution Beauty Pro Fix Oil Control Fixing Spray

Madame Glamour handcream

Cien Orange and Vanilla Sugar Body Scub

This month was beyond scary because of COVID-19. I’m high-risk but fortunately have a very sensible husband.
I continued with my blogging, online courses and of course as many ebooks as I could get through. I’m now 30 books into my  Goodreads Challenge.

The highlights from the month were my post celebrating 14 years with Alfredo and of course being featured on Undercover Superhero.

A Mother’s Secret by Minna Howard  and The Mountains Sing were amongst my favourite books for the month. Because I look for the good all the time but that is more important than ever in these trying times.

I hope you were able to find some good this month.
