Today is my 36th birthday. I’ve always loved birthdays and have made a great show of celebrating every one . Thanks to the family and friends who took the time to send me cards , gifts or Facebook messages. Today more than ever I give thanks for those who think about me and who value me for who I am.
I got some amazing gifts. Makeup Revolution Lip Kit in Echelon from my lovely sister Nicky, my brother in law Dave and my nephew Ralph. I got some make up palettes that I’d really been wishing for from mum and dad. Make up Revolution’s Amplified 35 palette in Luxe, Freedom Makeup London’s Dreamcatcher palette The Burgundy Bar palette by Maybellne and 2 single eyeshadows, Just Me and Mountains of Gold, which are also by Makeup Revolution.
From Alfredo, I got Ucanbe Molten Rock, an Urban Decay Naked Heat dupe. I have been wanting Huda Beauty’s Rose Gold palette for a while, but it is really expensive (£58/€64) . I found a really great dupe by Focallure. The last palette is Kiss Beauty’s Chocolate Bar palette, an exact dupe of Too Faced’s palette of the same name.
Every birthday, I think about what I was told about this day throughout my life. I was born at 11:24 a.m. and I feel privileged to have known that I was accompanied by my identical twin Natalie. There are lots of moments in my life when I have thought about her, wishing that she had survived to be by my side. I feel so lucky that, 36 years after our birth, I’m still here when we both went through so much to arrive in this world.
I give thanks to all the surgeons and doctors who helped me and didn’t give up on me. Who operated on me to replace shunts and who gave me a new lease of life every time my hydrocephalus played its cruel tricks on me. To the family members who were by my side through nausea, headaches sickness dizziness and worrying times going through CTs and MRIs as well as missed school days.
Thanks also go out to the people who advised me on aids and equipment for my disabilites throughout my life. I can’t wait to see what my 36th year will bring!
