Sunday with a Sassy Shopaholic: W7, Makeup Obsession and Byphasse Haul

On Monday this week, I did a spur of the moment drugstore haul. I’d been wanting the W7 Howdy eyeshadow palette ever since I was bought the Urban Decay Wild West Mini Palette. The UD palette is great but I like dupes too, and I just knew W7 would have one.

One of my wedding presents was the Rose Gold refillable palette by Makeup Obsession. I have some eyeshadows and a liquid lipstick but the larger spaces in the palette aren’t filled.

I bought two Strobe Balms in the shade Precious to put in these spaces.

I chose eyeshadows in Cosmo, Sassy, Metal and Mauve and a liquid lipstick in the shade Prosecco. All the Makeup Obsession products cost 1€

I noticed that W7 still have their Glowcomotion highlighter, and it’s a product I have been wanting, as I like highlighters a lot and my Benefit High Beam highlighter is almost used up. I wanted W7’s dupe of that but it’s out of stock. I wanted to be able to do another comparison post with it and the High Beam.

Glowcomotion cost 2.99€.

I have already done a post for High Beam vs Chit Chat Highlighter by Poundland.

I also bought the W7 Sweet Pressed Pigment Palettes in Sweet Coco and Sweet Brown. These look like dupes of the 9-shade Huda Beauty palettes and cost 2.99 each.

Finally, I bought Byphasse Micellar Water. This was the only product on sale for 3.30 instead of 3.99 euros and it has 500ml of product. I love the regular Micellar Water by the brand and wanted to buy the waterproof version, which is new.

I haven’t bought earrings in years and wanted some cute ones shaped like cowboy boots. I loved two of the colors equally, so I bought them both. Black and lilac. They cost 4.99 euros each. There was also a turquoise color.

Sunday with a Sassy Shopaholic: My Favourite Handcream is Back!

This week, I was surprised and pleased to find that Madame Glamour handcream by Lidl is back and has been repackaged.I loved the old packaging which was half white and half gold, but the new packaging is even nicer. It’s a bronze gold colour with black writing.

Beauty addicts like me know that Madame Glamour smells just like the Chanel perfume Coco Chael Mademoiselle. I’ve had a few bottles of the Madame Glamour perfume myself, and it’s very authentic smelling.

The handcream smells just as good and a tube has more product than it used to. I was used to finding 75ml tubes of cream, but now the tubes are 100ml ones, which means they’ll last even longer. They cost the same as they used to, 79 euro cents. I bought 2 tubes.

Vita-C Biphasic Makeup Remover by Cien

Over the years, I’ve used many makeup removers from Lidl. Some were good and some were not. I bought a biphasic makeup remover from there some years ago and liked it.

The last eye makeup remover I bought was originally released in 2021 as part of the Vita C range, but I bought it a few months ago. I wanted to buy it to find out if it was as good as the waterproof makeup remover from the same brand.

The Vita-C range had day and night cream, a face mask, a face serum and a biphasic eye makeup remover.

The makeup remover is in a clear bottle with a white push top lid. Once my husband opened it, we found the product comes out in drops because the opening is very small. This isn’t enough to moisten a cotton wool pad in one go properly, so you have to use a lot to do so each time you use the product. You lose product this way and it runs down the side of the bottle. This makes it more time-consuming to use, too.

I’m not sure how long this is going to last because of having to use the product like this and it has 200ml of product for 2.99€. I find this a bit expensive given that other brands (Garnier for example) have eye makeup removers that have 400ml and cost nearly 4 euros. I find them much more effective and they last a long time (almost a year) although I wear makeup frequently unless I’m outside as I don’t wear makeup at all with my face covering.

This Vita- C product is not a micellar water, so cannot be used to cleanse the face as well as remove eye makeup.

It is a two phase eye makeup remover and part of the product is oil-based. It smells of oranges and leaves a greasy residue behind, so you have to wipe your eyelids with a tissue afterwards to get rid of it. It can be used to remove makeup from the eyes and lips. It is said to be hydrating

It removes makeup well awithout the need for rubbing (hold the cotton wool pad up to your eye for some seconds and wipe gently to remove makeup).

The product leaves lashes soft, but I don’t find many advantages in it.

The scent, although nice and a realistic orange scent, is too strong and the greasy residue is a shame. I found I didn’t notice how hydrating it was because of the residue it leaves.

I’m glad I bought one bottle even though the offer in 2022 was buy one get one half price, as I don’t like this product. Now I know what it’s like, I won’t buy it again.

The biphasic makeup remover that I did like was the blue waterproof makeup one by Cien. I bought that years ago and although it was only available in small 125ml bottles, it was much better and removed waterproof and stubborn makeup much better than the Vita-C one did. I’m not even sure if they will sell the blue waterproof eyemakeup remover any more as they haven’t since I last bought it.

Mad Honey Kindle Ebook by Jodi Picoult is 99p for Today Only and I Have a Copy!

I get the Jodi Picoult email newsletter and was happy to find that the ebook version of her newest novel, Mad Honey, was featured in it.

Mad Honey is on sale on Amazon.co.uk for 99p for today only.

I’m a volunteer NetGallry reviewer, and had tried to get a copy of the eARC from the publishers but my request was declined. I was hoping the book price would go down, and was happy when I found the offer.

The ebook originally cost £10 when it was released back in November this year, so that’s quite a saving I made.

Jodi Picoult is one of my favourite authors and I’m glad I have her latest ebook.

Sunday with a Sassy Shopaholic: New Body Lotions

This week, it was Black Week at Lidl and there were body lotions on sale. I found one with avocado which I’ve never tried before. It has 500ml of product and cost 1.49€, original price 2.29€ The other one I bought, Classic Hydrating Body Cream, has 250ml and is the same price. Originally, it cost 1.99€. The other Hydrating Body Cream on offer was Soft Body Cream.

I did want the Body Milk, whose packaging looks like a dupe of Nivea’s body milk, but it was out of stock. That was on sale for the same price as the avocado body lotion I bought.

All these products are from the Cien skincare range by Lidl.

I know I’ll get use out of them since my skin gets dry at this time of year.

Black Friday 2022

Today’s Black Friday, a day that I look forward to every year. I haven’t been to the shops on Black Friday since 2016 when the night was especially wet and very cold. Even so, my desire to find a bargain won. I knew exactly what I wanted.

Today was a day of errands and so I didn’t get to check the offers out until the evening.

With Black Friday, I always go to the items I’ve been coveting, and this year, they are (by store/website):

SEPHORA:

Glossed Vinyl Lip Gloss :I am undecided about the shade to pick for this one. I don’t usually buy lip gloss much, as some can be sticky and drying and have a horrible aftertaste. I do have some glosses I love: Kiko 3D Hydra Gloss which is still sold and I Heart Makeup chocolate glosses, which unfortunately aren’t sold anymore.

I was bought a Wet Look lip kit from Primark recently, and that has a gloss crayon and a regular lip gloss.

Colorful Eyeshadow in Ultraviolet (lilac mixed with pink). I am a fan of this range of eyeshadows and have so many in all the types of finish. The unfortunate thing about the range is that every now and then the colours seem to have a complete overhaul and so you can’t always find the same shades year on year. This is not great, but on the other hand it means there are lots of new shades, too.

Sephora Collection Lip Stories Lipstick: I always check tthe stock of these without fail. For a long time, the Sephora site has been showing only 2 shades in stock: Brunch Date, a shade I already have, and Tan Lines, a shade which I don’t have. However, for Black Friday, shades that were out of stock for a long time were back on the website, but shown as being out of stock. Shades include: Yum Yum, Palm Street, Spiked and It’s Electric, all of which I want. I don’t think this is a good tactic, as I didn’t even find these shades in the physical store on my last visit. The only ones I found were lots of lipsticks in the shade Labyrinth City, a shade I already have,as well as the odd one or two in Buzz Me, No Cell Service, and some others.

Sephora Collection Sun Pocket Palette

Urban Decay Half Baked Mini Palette. I have the shades Sin and Foxy already as single eyeshadows, and I love Sin, a mid-pink colour, but I don’t like Foxy, which is a creamy white that does not even show up on my skin. and it’s chalky. This is a shade in my Naked Basics mini palette which I bought years ago. The shade I do love from there is Walk of Shame (abbreviated to WOS in that palette) which is a warm mid-toned nude.

Huda Beauty Power Bullet Lipstick: I have been wanting this for so long and it’s on sale right now. I was praying for a sale on these lipsticks, but I still think 20 euros is expensive for a lipstick. That said, you do save 6.99 on the original price.

BUT, eyeshadows and lipsticks are my favourite makeup items, and I have so many I don’t have space in my makeup drawers. I have great cheaper dupes of the Power Bullet lipsticks by W7 in the shades Exposed (a mid-toned nude) and Modest (a dupe of Huda’s shade Wedding Day).

MY LOCAL DRUGSTORE:

I have been wanting the large version of the Wild West eyeshadow palette by Urban Decay, and I have been witness to how it has been hovering between first 32 then 37 then 39 and today we are back at 37 euros. Quite a good discount for a palette whose top price is 55 euros.

Maybelline is a long-term favourite brand of mine since I was a teenager. I like the Color Tattoo eyeshadows. I had one in the shade Vintage Plum and have the shade Charcoal. I like the shades Pink Gold and On and On Bronze , so they’ll be the next ones I buy when I need more. They cost 5.24 euros down from 6.99.

I haven’t bought clothes for awhile, and love clothes just as much as makeup.

KIKO: This store always has a great Buy 3 get 3 free offer. I first found out about this offer in 2016, when it was only on Black Friday, but now it’s before Black Friday as well as on the day, with discounts instore and online. This year, I decided to forgo the offer, since everything I like from Kiko has gone up in price, with the exception being the Glitter Shower eyeshadow, which is still 8.99. I still have this eyeshadow and many others from Kiko. I always recommend the Water Eyeshadow (9.99, up 1 euro from the original price) and the High Pigment Eyeshadow (3.99) which I have.

The Wet and Dry Powder Foundation is a favourite of mine, but it now costs 16 euros, which I think is expensive even for this product. I plan to wait to find out if it ever comes down in price.

MANGO: There are so many clothes I like that I feel spoilt for choice. I would like to buy something from here.

PRIMARK: From the website, I like the look of a sequin-covered makeup bag as well as some fake fur-covered ones and some fake leather trousers/pants.Maybe some jewelry. I need to go to the store again as want to see things in person.

I am thinking of treating myself to something. Have you bought yourself anything this Black Friday?

Sunday with a Sassy Shopaholic: Pre-Birthday Drugstore Haul: W7, I Heart Makeup and Byphasse

I was really pleased when I went on my drugstore website and found they had the entire W7 Major Mattes Lipstick range. Last time, they only had Exposed which I bought, and Original. I ordered the lipstick in Modest this time. This shade is likeded by many beauty bloggers as the dupe of the Huda Beauty Power Bullet Lipstick in Wedding Day.

I don’t have mascara left and Lidl has stopped stocking their Volumising Mascara in black (Maybelline Colossal Mascara dupe).

W7 Absolute Lashes Mascara, 2.99€

I have been wanting to try this for so long, but it was out of stock a lot. It`s a dupe of Benefit’s Bad Gal Lash Mascara, which I have tried in the past so I’ll do a comparison post when I use the W7 mascara.

W7 London Rose Mascara 1.99€

W7 All That! Mega Impact Glitter Lipstick in Chill Pill 1.99€

I Heart Revolution Tasty Peach Mascara 3,29€

Technic Glitter Primer Face and Body Primer 1,99€

Byphasse Q10 Day Cream SPF 10 3.29€

It’s my birthday in December and I wanted a treat. I often buy myself makeup or something else before my birthday if I find something I want and it’s a good price.

I have been wanting a palette for a long time. It’s the Forever Flawless I’ll be There for You plaette by Revolution Beauty. It cost 4.99€ instead of 12.99€. I promised myself I’d treat myself to this when it came down in price, and I got lucky this week.

Another birthday gift was the Friends X Revolution Satin Kiss Lipstick in Monica 2.50€. I already have Rachel’s shade and love it.

Sunday with a Sassy Shopaholic: New Clothes Plus Drugstore Haul- Byphasse, Revlon Colorsilk, W7 and Revolution Beauty

This week has been a busy week shopping-wise, and I feel it’s just what I needed, as shopping is something I’ve always enjoyed and it has always made me feel great.

I was in need of some more summer t-shirts and found some linen ones in Lidl at the beginning of the week. I bought a cream one with a stencilled pattern on the side of the shoulders and a mid-tone pink one with cute ruffles on the shoulders. Both cost 6.99€.. There were trousers/pants and sleeveless tops too as well as shorts. All the clothes were in a pink, yellow-gold and blue floral pattern on a white background as well as plain colours (pink, cream, pale blue, white).

I also did some online shopping. It’s always around this time of year that I notice that many of my beauty products start to run out, especially those I buy for my facial skincare routine.

The products for that are:

Doceur Cleansing Milk for Face and Eyes with Vitamin B6 and Vitamin E

Rose Toner

Q10 Lift Instant Night Cream

In the summer, I buy a Rehydrating Face Mist which refreshes my skin and sets makeup. I’ve bought this before in the past and have now tried both versions, but the one I bought is for dry and sensitive skin.

These products are all by Byphasse.

I bought my usual hair dye, Revlon Colorsilk, but this time I bought it in shade 35, Vibrant Red. This is a colour I’ve bought before.

The products I’m most excited about are

W7 Major Mattes Lipstick in Exposed, which is said to be a dupe of Huda Power Bullet Lipstick

Chococolate Lipstick in Cookie Dough

Caramel Nudes Chocolate Palette, both by I Heart Revolution.

Sunday with a Sassy Shopaholic: A New iPad Plus Lidl Shower Smoothies

I’m really pleased to have ordered a new iPad this week and it should be with me soon.

Summer is finally here and it’s time to stock up on some summer toiletries.

This week, I found these new shower smoothies in Lidl. They are exfoliating shower gels and are available in three fragrances: raspberry, apricot and kiwi.

The raspberry one has more of a scent than the apricot one but they both smell nice. You get 300 mL of product.

At the time I bought them there was a buy two, get 50% off offer on and so one shower gel cost €1.49 and two cost 2 euros 20 cents

Also available at the same time were mini lip balms. They were available in coconut, red fruits and rose. These were also buy one get one 50% off and one lip balm cost 99 euro cents and two cost €1.49.

The last product available is a liquid hand soap available in coconut, mango or lemon scent 500 mL for €1.19.
